This dress is beautiful. I am 5'2" and 185 pounds and ordered the XL. I did wear a shaper for a smoother fit and a half slip for modesty. The hem hit me about 6 inches above the ankle. I wore it to a wedding, and it was comfortable and draped nicely. Being rayon, it needed ironing when it arrived. I ironed with a warm iron and expected it to wrinkle horribly after sitting but it was not that bad. I'm in the process of losing weight and will be sad when this dress is too big. Since I like it so much, I may look into having it altered. The only thing not exciting is that instructions say to handwash.
